Our next UNFI delivery is March 31 at
Second Presbyterian Church,
3511 Belmont Blvd. Nashville, TN 37215

(Enter around back, at the corner of Richards and Graybar)

First step is to join our email list: http://groups.google.com/group/marketplace-co-op

Generally, we ask new folks to watch the process via email * for a month and attend one entire delivery before ordering with us. You may order 3 times before you are required to join & pay the joining fee of $25.
New folks may be required to submit payment the week before delivery for their first few orders otherwise payment is due at delivery.

United Natural Foods Buying Club

We order every 4 weeks from
United Natural Foods Buying Clubs
(formerly Northeast Cooperatives)
subsidiary of United Natural Foods, Inc

Deliveries are currently on Mondays
(UNFI delivers are slated for
May 26, June 23, July 21, every four weeks ...)

generally within a time frame of 1:30  - 4 pm.
You must be able to be very flexible regarding the delivery time as any number of variables can impact the ETA of the truck.

Delivery times & updates
are announced on our email list
as soon as we receive an ETA or update from the UNFI warehouse in Atlanta.

Folks who are interested in joining our co-op should participate in at least one delivery before submitting an order. This gives you a chance to see our process in action so you can decide if our co-op fits within you family's needs, lifestyle and time commitments. The delivery & distribution process takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Everyone is expected to arrive 15 - 30 minutes before the truck's ETA, work unloading and distribution, pitch in where needed, verify the pick sheets of members involved in weighing and check-out, help clean up the area. Folks may not check out until all items have been distributed.

There are no non-working memberships available at this time. Work involves participating in unloading the truck, sorting, weighing, distributing the items, verifying the pick sheets of members involved in weighing & check-out, & generally pitching in where needed & helping clean up the area.

Children are generally welcome at delivery.  Many of the co-op families are also homeschooling families so  we can usually find some work for post-toddlers on up. Children too young to help must be under the control of an older sibling, in a stroller, sling or backpack. Older children who come but opt not to work will be asked to sit on a bench so they do not get in the way of or distract those children who are working. If a parent has to spend most of his/her time dealing child(ren) at delivery then s/he can't contribute fully to the delivery & distribution process.

We use an online ordering system for the UNFI orders. Unfilled cases are processed in rounds. Our email list is  http://groups.google.com/group/marketplace-co-op and everyone is expected to check his/her email  frequently during the ordering & delivery phases of the cycle. We ask  folks to be subscribed to  the email list  for at least one ordering cycle  before ordering from  the co-op to get a feel for the process and type of items that we split.

We often have hardcopies of the catalog at deliveries so folks can see the items offered & pricing.

April Specials and New Products

Frontier Coop Buying Club

We also order from Frontier Coop as buying club.
We anticipate ordering monthly with the delivery the week before the UNFI delivery. Orders are drop shipped to a  coordinator's home & then brought to the next UNFI delivery.

Co-op Membership is per household.
Members may not order for non-members.

In keeping with the our mission to ensure that we share  the workload  & expenses equitably we ask co-op members to order for their immediate household only .  We do allow members to include items for their parents (if they are physically unable to work the delivery) and young adult children (who may have just recently fledged the nest so to speak.)

We don't have fresh produce but have about the same grocery items as Wild Oats/Whole Foods.

Let us know if you have any questions.
